Five Things to Wear to Your Boudoir Session — That Aren’t Lingerie

Don’t get me wrong. I love a good lacy, strappy, bedazzled, fabulously sexy lingerie outfit. But …it’s not everyones thing! And that’s okay. There are so many things you can wear that showcase what an amazing human you are without having to don a g-string.

Oversized sweaters, tees, loose shirts, and cardigans

Pssst. This sweater is a client closet classic!

Nothing says confidence and sexiness than wearing something you’re comfortable in. If shirts and sweaters feel more like your thing, rock them! Remember that “sexiness” and “confidence” are a state of mind, NOT an outfit. You can be in a $500 outfit, and if you don’t feel good in it, you won’t LOVE your photos. I swear.

I love loose shirts, they’re the best props! You can tug them off the shoulder, pull on them and just generally be super comfortable!

Robes and Gowns

Another great prop, robes are so multifaceted you can slowly remove it and it provides a great story in your images. You can also hang it off the shoulders for a regal, classic look.

A classic image.

I can’t wait till I can equip the studio with a vintage dressing gown — seriously — they’re so divine. The sleeves are so pretty and oversized you can do SO much movement wise to capture some truly stunning photos. Plus, they’re AMAZING for maternity boudoir, or just normal maternity.

Jeans!

You can so SO MUCH with jeans!

They’re again, another great prop. You can pull them down, leave them open, pull them around your bum so the top of your bottoms are sticking out. ENDLESS options! I’m not a jeans person myself, I only own one pair that I actually want to live in for more than five minutes, but I do love taking my own photo in them!

Loungewear

I actually haven’t done a shoot yet in a PJ style loungewear, but I’d love to! There’s something a bit more romantic and soft about loungewear over lingerie. And such a great option if you hate the feeling of lace or the constricting feeling of tighter clothing. Here’s some inspo, I’ll leave links for each piece!

Body Chains, Pasties, and more!

Don’t forget about accessories! They can be a super fun way to really personalize your shoot. I’m really excited to hopefully be getting some body chains for the client closet, including chains for plus size bodies (which are hard to find). But, until I do, here’s some accessory inspiration!!
