For The Queers

As we near the end of pride month, it’s a good time to reflect on the very pressing need to affirm our queer kin. I’ve always touted myself as a space that’s always working on being safe for my fellow queer folk. I will be the first to admit I haven’t always been a safe space. It’s take a long time to learn how to properly hold space, how to not cause harm… and while I’ve made missteps as a person, as a human, I will always be in continual pursuit of safety. Of honesty. Of fucking up, and starting again.

This life is messy, and it’s more messy when we add in layers of marginalization. When you allow someone the space to be seen as they want to be seen, you affirm their lived experience. You bring them into being.

So, to all my queer folk who are out, who are in the closet, who struggle, who celebrate. Who feel seen, who feel unseen. Who haven’t quite found themselves, or are evolving. You’re worthy, as you are.
