IG Accounts to Follow That Will Make you Feel Good

I’m a huge advocate for deep cleaning your social feeds every now and again because let’s face it, you are a reflection of the people (and media content) you surround yourself with. So… why follow people that make you feel like shit? A quick a surefire way to raise your own vibration without much effort, is to unfollow the sucky people and START following the delicious people.

Here’s a short list of a few of my favourites.

Teri Hofford; @terihofford

I discovered Teri years ago when I was trying to figure out what kind of impression I wanted to make on the photography community, and it’s been a deep love affair ever since. Her instagram series are what dreams are made of. Check her out! Especially if you’re a photographer.

My Body Counts Project; @mybodycountssa

A beautiful account that I just stumbled upon, and am glad I did. I love photography projects, especially ones that are centred around bringing visibility to different bodies.

Tayanna Nelson; @goodbodieskc

I’m partial to amazing boudoir photographers (shocking, I know) and Tayanna is no exception. You can see she pours her heart and soul into her work, and reading her captions is a privilege.

Olesha Haskett; @ohexperience

In her own words; “I am a healer, badass boudoir photographer, educator and creator. I create safe spaces for Black bodies to empower themselves.” Make sure you support the work that Olesha does by giving her a follow.

Noomi Rubeksen; @noomirubeksen

I’ve been following Noomi for a while and I love her content. She’s also the creator of Empowered by You; a body positive Instagram studio and I love that.

Tracy Cox; @sparklejams

A fat artist and activist, Tracy will show you a redefined take on body positivity.

The Body is Not an Apology; @thebodyisnotanapology

Founded by Sonya Renee Taylor, this instagram account is helping to redefine what it means to love ourselves, with an acknowledgment of the disparities between bodies.

Shannon Smith; @artistshannonsmith

I couldn’t have done this list without including my favourite fellow Albertan boudoir photographer. Shannon is a fearless advocate of empowering humans and body positivity. It’s an honour to be in her circle and I can’t wait to see what she gets up to this year.
