SHOW ME YOUR PARTS!

If you’re not a part of my private Facebook group, are you even living? Just kidding. But seriously. A while back (too long if we’re being honest) I put a call out for photos of a specific body part — nose, bum, tum etc. Members of my group participated by adding their own photo of each respective “part”.

It was an interesting exploration in how we feel when we break ourselves down to our component parts, and focus on all the varied thing each body part does for us.

SO. At the end of the week, I made a collage for each part and it’s super cool looking at all the different ways each can look. I hope you enjoy viewing the most beautiful series of collages and some insightful words. The community I’ve been a part of creating is my favourite part of this work.

Tums

“I'll be honest I'm guilty of hating my tummy a lot but I'm trying to learn to love it.”
”Trying to love my post 4 babies belly. It's so squishy.”
”This is my favourite of showing off my body! It’s the one that made me fall in love with my body again. This is after 4 babies, a hysterectomy and weight fluctuation.”
”I love my belly.”
”Surgery scar and all... but the Mumford and sons lyrics are the real crime here.”
”Bat panties covering terrible tattoos, a treasure trail consisting of 3 rogue hairs and a high-waisted fly line. I always used to pluck the random long hair right under my bellybutton but i’ve grown fond if it.”
”This is what happens when you try to tighten your tummy with patches from China...... and yes it hurt.”

Hands

“Holder of rings, maker of art, transporter of snacks.”
”So happy to have strong hands.”
”My hands are wrinkly and look old before their time. But they’re strong and caring and can do so many wonderful things.”
”Square shaped worker hands with the patina of age.”
”My hands do SO much for me.”
”My most important work tool.”

Bums

“Just bringing the cake to the party. Or in this case, butt-ertarts”

Noses

“My weird little/big honker.”
”I actually love my nose, because it looks just like my Nana's nose!”
”I don’t know how to take selfies without being an awkward frick.”
”Love my freckley nose!”

Feet

“I've come a long way with feet. Feet used to trigger me due to a trauma event but have worked hard over the past 15 years and have ended up landing indifferent to them.”
”My cozy feeeeet.”

Smiles!

“I had to relearn how to smile. I spent my entire life until 30 years old not smiling, or only smiling with a closed mouth. My teeth were my biggest insecurity. After I spent some money on Invisalign, I realized I didn't know how to smile. I'm 32 now and smiling is just starting to feel more natural.”
”I thought I was going to be super insecure with braces, but turns turns out i’m the cutest adult with braces ever.”
”I've noticed as I've gotten older my lips have gotten thinner and I can't see my teeth as much when I smile. It's like my bottom lip covers them up now. So I tend to smile with my lips closed.”
”All my lipstick is wiped off, courtesy of pizza.”
