Katie; Part I
World; meet Katie. Another Instagram friend turned rad friendship, if I do say so myself. It was an honour to capture some photos for Katie, and an even bigger honour to get to hang out and pick the brain of such a talented human. If you didn’t catch it, a while back I featured Katie in my newsletter as an artist I love.

The more I am shooting in my new space — after rearranging it a thousand times to get it to my liking — the more I’m falling in love with the textures and patterns myself and a dear friend, Amanda, have chosen. I’m also starting to get the hang of using my window as a primary source of light, as well as using my supplemental NEON light for added fun when desired.
As a fun side note: when there’s snow on the ground it makes the window SO bright and that’s SUPER helpful. That’s the only thing snow is good for, I’ve decided.
Also since I know you all are going to ask, I’ve gone ahead and found the link for this ridiculously awesome outfit she’s wearing which can be found here. Oh and turns out that lingerie company is owned by women, and features real, non-retouched humans on their website. Which is a company I. Can. Get. BEHIND.
I used two different editing styles in this set for a couple reasons;
a) I wanted to show myself and other people that you’re not married to one editing style if you don’t want to be.
b) Some of these photos lended themselves better to a warmer/more vintage feel, where as others felt like they need a cooler/more modern look. I wanted to provide a gallery of photos that were edited the way they felt to me. So I did that!
The resulting gallery is one I’m very proud of — the more I practice in my space, the more I feel like I’m really getting comfortable in it. Kind of like driving a car, at some point you just become one with it.

An overwhelming amount of gratitude is owed to this divine human for allowing me to share bits and pieces of her session. As a side note: with each booking, you have the option of finishing your session with an “in the sheets” scene — where you can be nakey under a sheet for some really powerful imagery.
